Tonight there is a dinner and show hosted by Icon Vallarta at the Hotel Icon (Vallarta). There will be a free transportation going to the event. Hope to see you there.

 Fair Sailing,
Luis Alvarez.

Regatta Update, Wednesday March 10th:

Estimados amigos veleristas,
Interesting day, with oscillating wind, different strength so it made it difficult to read.
The first race was abandoned, half way to the first mark. After waiting and having a general recall it was well worth it since we had a great race with strong winds, through out, enough to continue on the limit of putting up a jib.
Second race we had good wind at the start and after two legs the wind decreased, and the last leg of the course on the left hand side the wind was non-existent, making it hard for boats to finish.

We recommend, that you go to all the events prepared for you. Last night at Las Caletas we had a great night with wonderful food, show, drinks and on our way back, dancing under the stars.

On Thursday night there is a dinner and show hosted by Icon Vallarta at the Hotel Icon (Vallarta). There will be a free transportation going to the event. On Friday evening we will have a dinner, which is hosted by Dell, this will be at the Villa Copa Mexico. On Saturday we will have the Trophy dinner, which will be sponsored by Comex.

We would also like to mention other sponsors. Riviera Nayarit, Fonatur, Opequimar, Mexicana, Vallarta Yacht Club and Vallarta Adventures.

Second day of regatta:
The standing after the fourth race is as follows:
1º Mauricio Santa Cruz from Brasil, on Bruschetta, with 19 points.
2º Javier Arribas from Perú, on boat “Primero”, with 21 points.
3º Chris Snow from San Diego, on board “S”, with 22 points.

"Be carefull, two people hurt, one from El Salvador and one from México. We hope they are well. Safety first!!!"

 Fair Sailing,
Luis Alvarez.

Regatta Update, Tuesday March 9th:

Estimados amigos veleristas,
We are glad to be back in Nuevo Vallarta, what a event!!!.

The preparation for the event has been in good hands, our friends, Peter Wiegandt and Kenneth Porter have done a spectacular job for all of us to enjoy, we also have to mention, Miguel Bargalló, Jorge Castillo, Rosalía, Ulises, the measurement team, Sancudo, Carlos Reyes our sponsors, who with out their help this event would not have been possible: Microsoft Office, Nyssen, XX, Nextel, Icon Vallarta, Dell, Comex, Grey Goose, Coca Cola, Marival, Banamex. And finally for all the people involved in the organization, the Judges, the Marina Riviera Nayarit, La Marina Armada de México.
What a beautiful night for the inauguration of Regata Copa México, the splendid Marival Residences, Palm trees, nice music, excellent food, drinks for every one,...
Good recognition made by Peter Wiegandt to Kenneth Porter with a commemorative Regata Copa México TAG Heuer watch. For you to know, Kenneth got all the boats for rent ready for all that came from abroad, he took care of every detail. I have never seen such a thing in any event that I have been to.

Welcome all our guests from other countries that came far away, some of them very far away. We are proud to have you with us and show you our country, our people,…  Enjoy the party, it wont be long enough. Thanks for all the effort you did coming to this party.

Vallarta is Vallarta, the wind conditions, the weather, the good competition.

First day of regatta:
1º Congratulations to Javier Arribas from Perú, on boat Primero, with 9 points.
2º Well sailed, Chris Snow from San Diego, on boat “S”, with 11 points.

Regatta Update, Monday March 8th:

During the Second day of the “Copa México Edición Nextel Bicentenario” the practice regatta took place, it was planned to start a 1pm, but unfortunately the wind wasn’t in our side,  It began blowing from the north, and then very unstable from southwest. With intensity of approx 6-8 knots, the regatta finally started.
Tomorrow we hope to have better wind and we will maintain you informed of the results.
